Zone 10 Junior Jumper Team Bound for Harrisburg
Prix des States
Four young women and their Jumpers are gearing up to represent
Zone 10 at the Prix des States Competition at the Pennsylvania
National Horse Show Junior Weekend October 13-15.
Chef d’ Equipe Karen Healey will lead the contingent as
the Team Competition kicks off the weekend on Friday the 13 ,
with the Individual Championship scheduled for Saturday the 14
. Representing Jumper Zone 10 will be Paige Beal-Andros on Gelha’s
Junior, Amber Levine and her Anna Karenina, Hannah Selleck riding
Bauer, and Erica Buie on Lady D.
Selleck and Buie are veterans of the summer’s NAYRC Silver
Medal Junior squad, contested last August in Lexington, Virginia.
Beal-Andros represented the Zone on the Championship team. They
finished the NAYRC in fourth place in the Team Competition, while
Gelha’s Junior qualified for the Individual Final, finishing
in a tie for 16th with Beal-Andros in the irons.
More recently, Selleck and Levine were selected by Judges Anne
Kursinski and Carol Hoffman for the Final Four at the USEF Show
Jumping Talent Search Finals-West at Los Angeles Equestrian Center
September 20-24. The Jumper-type medal final is conducted under
a unique format, much like the FEI World Equestrian Games, where
the top four competitors ride each other’s mounts over a
shortened course to determine the winners. Selleck was Reserve
Champion in the Talent Search, with Levine finishing fourth. Levine’s
jumper, Ketel One, was named Best Horse and received the inaugural
Gulliver Trophy at the Talent Search.
The Prix des States team is selected by money earned in USEF
Junior Jumper competitions. The top four horse and rider combinations
are representing Zone 10 at Harrisburg, with the best three scores
in the Team Competition determining the medals. To examine the
full selection criteria for next year, check the website under
Zone 10 Jumpers at www.ushja.org. You can also follow the action
at Harrisburg on the web at www.panational.org.
